Me and my sleep---- the hunt begins

12.45: listening to songs, sleep continues to elude me.. body damn tired but brain is having a party
1.30: just started to doze off... suddenly a lady friend decided to send a very interesting smiley in whats-app..sleep vanished, just when the party was about to being again.. got another ping.."sorry its a smipo"
1.45: took some time but finally understood its the short for smiley-typo, pretended to be cool with it
2.30: continuous ringing in my other phone(which was in a different room)... told "baba tomar phone ese6he".. baba: "rat araite te phone asar boyosh tor, amar noi"..digested the sarcasm... answered the phone... in bhojpuri or probably bihari accent " ramesh bahiya ha ka?".. dhur jotto sob
3.30: nature decided to join the party.... super cold winds started blowing from our ganga side window... again got up and got a blanket
5.30: my usual time to wake up, i know its weekend, didn't even give alarm ----- but again my brain suddenly decided to be punctual
and here i am sitting in front of my laptop at 8 in the morning... with dark circles that are threatening to engulf my entire body soon

হাঁই তুলতে তুলতে নিজের চা দোকানের ঝাঁপ খুলল  দীনু। একে এই গরম তার ওপর আবার সারারাত বোমাবাজি, শেষ কবে ভাল করে ঘুমিয়েছিল নিজেরই মনে পরে না। কাল রাতে বোমা পড়ার পর কেউ চা খেতে আসবে না জানে, তাও সারাবছরের আভ্যেস...  চায়ের গরম জল চাপিয়ে লড় ঝরঝরে রেডিওটা চালিয়ে দিল। ""... গ্রামবাসীরা সবাই হীনমন্যতায় ভুগছে। আমরা শীগগির যাচ্ছি ওখানে। আমরা ওদের সাথে আছি পাশে আছি।" আপনারা শুনলেন বুদ্ধিজীবীদের একাংশের মতামত। চলে আসব পরের খবরে..." দুদিন ধরেই দীনুর বুক ডিপডিপ করছে, গা হাতপাও কেমন জানি ম্যাজম্যাজ করছে... সত্যি কি ওর তাহলে ওর হীনমন্যতা হয়েছে? কে জানে বাবা ছোঁয়াচে নয়তহ! এইভাবেই ঘণ্টা দুয়েক কেটে যায়। নাহ চাপটা নেওয়া যাচ্ছে না। ভরা কেটলি হাতে দীনু বেরিয়ে পরলো। কোন প্রশ্ন মাথায় এলে ও ছোটে মাস্টারের কাছে, শরীরের বিশেষ ব্যাবস্থা না করলেও মনের ব্যারাম সারিয়েই দেয়। গ্রামের একটু দূরে মাস্টারের বাড়ী, পুরো নাম বরুন বিশ্বাস, শিক্ষকতা ছাড়াও সমাজ সেবক ছিলেন। রাজনীতির কোন রংই গায়ে মাখেননি কোনদিন, কিন্তু তাও সেই রাজনীতির কারনেই গুলি খেয়েছিলন। গুলি শরীর মন দুটোই ভেঙে দিয়েছিল, তাই এই চলে আসা, সরে ...

Of rooftops and marriages...

[P.S: This is an over-dramatized version of a real life incident, most of the things have been blown out of proportion, please take the details here with a pinch (or better yet a packet of) salt.] In a time when (almost) everywhere everyone has a girlfriend(s), last weekend I was the firsthand witness of a unique and perhaps dying tradition. The 'chad dekhano'(literal translation 'roof viewing') incident where, in an arranged marriage, the guy and the girl talks to each other personally and finally decide if they want to be hitched (or screwed depending on your POV) for life. It started like this, I was in my friend's house, the lady and her family were there. My friend had passed through all the filters; parents approval, her best friends approval, her grocer's, her maid's, her security guard's, her Rini Masi's and all other important peoples' approvals. 1 year - a journey worth writing about…(this blog was written by me and officially posted in Cognizant blogs)..

What to tell, what not tell is the question that has been bugging me since the day I sat down to write this blog. Should I talk about my appreciations or my escalations, my triumphs or my trials…? Well at last after tearing a few hairs, I decided to let go of such Shakespearean dilemma and just focus on telling the truth. Many of my academy friends compare their first day at project with their first day at school, a feeling I could never relate to, mostly because I don’t remember my first day at school anymore. The last canteen lunch together with our friends, the promise to keep forever in touch (the BFS people didn’t even know that they won’t have access to their phones!!) everything reminded me of the last day of our college. We lamented that how these are our last friends in the corporate world, rest all will be our colleagues.
